A few tweaks made at Surreal Nirvana

I just wanted my readers to be aware of a few changes that have been made here at Surreal Nirvana. The main purpose of making these changes is to add value to readers' experience. For example the Labels column in the right column has been moved below other features. I realized that although labels are important but the sheer number and variety might cause hindrance while browsing and accordingly the necessity of this change was felt. Some of the other changes which might require some introduction as described below:

  • Google Search: Users can now use Surreal Nirvana to search the web using Google. A user can type in his/her query in the search box available on the top right column of the blog and the search results would open in a new page. In this manner the user can continue surfing on Surreal Nirvana without having to find the page again and at the same time ca perform search on the web using Google without having to open a new tab/ browser window. For your benefit a small picture of the Share/ Save button is shown below.

  • Share/ Save: The purpose of this feature is to enable the reader to share a particular post of hi/s her interest with others just by a click of a button. You may choose to save the link on various internet communities, add the post on your Facebook profile (the blog post will appear in the posted items section of your facebook profile), bookmark the particular page in your browser or you may just choose to send the post via your email address to one or maybe to your entire contact list. You may use this feature by clicking on the Share/Save button at the end of every post. For your benefit a small picture of the Share/ Save button is shown below.

  • RSS Feeds: For those users who're not aware of an extremely helpful function on the web called RSS/ RSS Feeds, here's a small introduction. Users who understand how RSS works may continue reading from the next paragraph. RSS is a family of Web feed formats used to publish frequently updated works—such as blog entries, news headlines, audio, and video—in a standardized format. An RSS document (which is called a "feed", "web feed", or "channel") includes full or summarized text, plus metadata such as publishing dates and authorship. Web feeds benefit publishers by letting them syndicate content automatically. They benefit readers who want to subscribe to timely updates from favored websites or to aggregate feeds from many sites into one place. RSS feeds can be read using software called an "RSS reader", "feed reader", or "aggregator", which can be web-based or desktop-based. The user subscribes to a feed by entering the feed's URI into the reader or by clicking an RSS icon in a browser that initiates the subscription process. The RSS reader checks the user's subscribed feeds regularly for new work, downloads any updates that it finds, and provides a user interface to monitor and read the feeds. In simple words RSS helps a user to get automatic updates by just adding the URI of the desired blog/website in their feed reader. There're many feed reader options available. I personally use Google Reader. Feel free to ask in case of any further queries/ doubts.
Surreal Nirvana readers can locate RSS Feed Subscription link on the right column of the blog. Just click on the same to activate your subscription and you'll start receiving the updates on your reader. For your benefit a small picture of the RSS Feed/ Subscription button is shown below.
  • Surreal Nirvana on Facebook: Today almost everybody is on Facebook. Surreal Nirvana has a network which tries to bring all the readers together through an unique application on Facebook. Through this network readers can interact with each other, post comments etc. Please make sure you join the network on facebook as it also enables you to get updates related to the blog directly on your profile. To join the Facebook network, please locate the button on the right column of the blog. For your benefit a small picture of the Facebook network button is shown below.

I hope the readers find one/ all these features helpful. I'll try to keep adding more features like these which will enhance your browsing experience, make it easier, fun and worthwhile. Request you to please provide me with your valuable feedback which helps me understand the pulse and needs of my readers.

Thanks & Best Regards,
Manish :)
